Weekly work posted for April 14 - 17
Just to let you know that I have sent out an update email today and a separate emails with login codes for just your child and Teams access cheat sheet if they (you) are feeling adventurous. We are not actually using Teams for weekly work, but they can always drop me a message. The red "Additional parent resources" button link on my home page is not broken, it just doesn't have anything uploaded yet. I will tackle that next week. Have a great long weekend.
April 8, 2020 Update
Thank-you!
Just a quick note today to say thank-you to all the wonderful families of division 9. Yesterday, after the family phone calls, I felt so lucky to be working with such a supportive, flexible, adaptive, and amazing group. It was the first time in the last week and a half that I felt calm! You bring a 'slice of peace' to this challenging time and I am so grateful. THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU! THANK-YOU!

Phone call/Email
I have emailed out a tentative phone contact schedule, for Tuesday, April 7th. Please have a check and let me know if there are conflicts. Super flexible to move it around to make it work for you. I can also do an after 7 p.m. spot, if needed. I know how crazy the days can be!
April 2, 2020 Update
Check your email later today!
I am sending an email and survey link out later this afternoon. Please check for it. If you do not receive it, please email me and I'll check my contacts list. As mentioned in the email, if you are looking for some suggestions for things your child (children) can do until "regular" weekly work starts arriving:
• continue with RAZ-kids for grade 2
• continue with EPIC reading for grade 2 and 3 (if you forget any access or login information, just email me)
• continue to practice keyboarding skills with Dance Mat (link on home page)
• I've joined all the students up for free 90 day subscription to 'Headsprout' K-5 program on Learning A-Z, will send more information soon
• start a daily journal, maybe get creative and include scrapbook items from news, record how you're feeling about not being in school, what fun things are you doing at home, least/most favourite thing about being at home, best part of your day, something you're thankful for, a wish you may have...
• explore ABCYa site, lots of math there
• access online for ebooks
• read or listen to someone read a book
• work on an iMovie or PowerPoint (we covered the basics of these) about something of interest
• check out Mystery Doug online for short science videos
• make some salt dough and create
• make a poster for a window or chalk art on the sidewalk for messages of hope
• write a letter to someone (maybe to a certain teacher who misses her students)
• make a topic jar and take turns pulling one out and talking for 30 seconds - 1 minute: maybe stating an opinion and giving reasons why you think that
• make a KaBoom (can use pieces of paper instead of popsicle sticks)
• start a weather station
• take a walk/bike/hike (my kids and I tried something different, we took two dice with us and rolled them every time we came to an intersection: even=turn right, odd=turn left, double=go straight)
• make a chart and measure the arms, legs, heads, and height of everyone in your family to compare
• check out 'Cosmic Kids' (Yoga or Zen Den), 'GoNoodle', or 'Just Dance for Kids' on YouTube
March 31, 2020 Update
Hello out there! I MISS MY STUDENTS AND FAMILIES!
While this is not my preferred way to communicate with all of you, this is where we find ourselves right now. I hope that you are all healthy and safe! Please give your kids a huge hug and tell them it's from me! I will be sending out an email later this week, with a survey link, to connect and get a better sense of where you're at in your situation and how I can best help keep the kids moving along academically.
